Everything StarkZip does
A complete compression workbench with a beautiful face. Here is the full tour.
The .starkzip format
Your archives, truly locked. AES-256-GCM encrypts every file and the file index itself โ names, sizes and timestamps stay secret. Keys are derived with PBKDF2-SHA256 (210,000 iterations), and every entry carries a CRC-32 plus a GCM authentication tag. Tampering is detected, not just noticed.
All the classics
Open zip, rar (v3, v4 and v5), 7z, tar, gz, bz2, xz, cab and iso archives โ password-protected ones included. Create zip, 7z, tar, gz and .starkzip. Convert between formats without repacking by hand.
Preview pane
Text, source code and images render right inside the app. Peek at a file inside an encrypted archive without extracting a single byte to disk.
Multi-archive tabs
Open as many archives as you like in tabs. Folder chips and breadcrumbs make deep archives navigable; instant search filters thousands of entries as you type.
Integrity testing
One click verifies every entry's checksum. Know an archive is healthy before you trust it with your data.
Explorer integration
Context-menu verbs for Open, Extract Here, Extract to Folder and Test โ plus a first-run assistant that offers to make StarkZip your default archive app.
Light & dark
Warm stone and gold in daylight, charcoal and gold at night. One toggle, applied instantly.
Lives in your tray
StarkZip starts with Windows and stays quietly in the notification area, so it is always one click away. Closing the window keeps it running; Quit is always in the tray menu.
Automatic updates
The app checks for updates every two minutes. Official updates ask nicely; security patches apply themselves quietly in the background.
Keyboard-first
Ctrl+N new archive, Ctrl+O open, Ctrl+E extract, Ctrl+T test. Drag-and-drop in and out. Built for people who work fast.
